The effects of the aspect
ratio on corrosion pit and fatigue loading during pitting process were
not considered in the critical pit depth evaluation. The same problem
can be found in the mechanistic models proposed by Lindley and
McIntyre [00], Kawai and Kasai [00], and Kondo [00]. In addition,
the probabilistic approach was also used to predict the corrosion
fatigue life. Harlow and Wei [00–00] developed a probabilistic model
to evaluate the growth rate of corrosion pits induced by constituent
particles. The model predicted the size of the pit at a given time by
estimating the relationship between the pit growth rate and the
number of clustered cathodic particles. Zamber and Hillberry [00]
developed an effective probabilistic approach to predict the fatigue life
of corroded 0000-T0 aluminum based entirely on crack propagation.
